Pacquiao Feels Sorry for Being Grounded from Basketball During Training

Manny Pacquiao played hoops even before his big fight against Sugar Shane Mosley on May 7 at MGM Grand. He shoots hoops one day before he departed from Manila to Los Angeles straight into his Wild Card Gym. A rule of thumb was imposed by Freddie Roach that that the Boxing champ should not be allowed to play basketball four weeks into his scheduled flight. This ultimatum took effect since he trained and sparred for his fight against Antonio Margarito. Roach confirmed this and firmly said that this rule will still be as strong as steel even after Pacquiao’s training against Sugar Shane Mosley. The prohibition starts the moment they start training in LA.

Sturdy sparring partners Shawn Porter and David Rodella will shield punch drizzles from Manny Pacquiao, along with two others who simulate Mosley’s antics. Introducing Rashad Halloway and Karim Mayfield. Mayfield is as tall as Mosley and he will be expected to bind and strengthen Pacquiao’s defenses. On the other hand, Halloway exudes the same speed as Mosley and he will assist in the Filipino champ’s training for the quick exchange faster than the blink of an eye on May 7, 2011

Pacquiao for his part admits that he might not be able to play hoops because he will be restrained by a tight schedule. But he confirmed that if he sees a window of opportunity to play when they go back to Manila, he will definitely embrace into the game. In the coming weeks, let’s wish him luck as he embarks on a more stringent phase of training on his way to championship. More of this as we watch Pacquiao vs Mosley Fight on the 7th of May. Be there and be a judge.
